Hoʻoulu Kumu Hoʻoulu Lāhui
A research project of Kanaeokana’s Hawaiian Culture Based Recruitment and Retention Committee.
Support for this project has been provided by Kamehameha Schools Research and Innovation Division.
Hoʻoulu Kumu Hoʻoulu Lāhui is a study designed to better understand how to recruit and prepare new generations of Hawaiian culture-based (HCB) educators and increase the total number of Native Hawaiians entering the teacher workforce.
Via this website, we are collecting information for this important study through a two-part survey: part one, to attain consent from potential respondents; and part two, to collect the actual survey responses.
We have opened the survey to numerous public and private school students and teachers throughout Hawaiʻi’s communities.
The survey dates are as follows: Nov 22nd through January 31st 2022.
Participation in this project is voluntary and all responses are anonymous: your personal identity information will neither be collected nor disclosed.
If you have any questions about this project, please contact Dr. Makalapua Alencastre at [ kaawa@hawaii.edu ] or Dr. Walter Kahumoku at [ wk@hawaii.edu ].
